| Just a quick (maybe silly question) ..... Im considering a late cheap to portugal and came across this info on the TO web site about kids travelling with parents or guardians or having letters to say its ok etc.
Im a bit worried that if i book the hol for me and kids without dad, am I likely to be questioned or harrassed because we are not married and the kids have his surname and I have mine? Especially in light of recent events with Madeliene McCann.
We have always holidayed together before but have found a late cheapie for the next school jollies and fancied just taking myself and kids.
Sorry for waffling on!

| hi honey bunny
I take my my partners children away, We live in france so when his boys come to visit I escort them back to the UK. I have never been asked any questions about there names being different. I have escorted them 10/11 times now.

| It has always been there and I have heard of people having a hard time but it was people taking other kids as well as their own kids on holiday, it was said that a letter from parents was required. But whos to know it was the parents that supplied the letter? If all you require is a letter from their dad then surely that is easy enough. Failing that you could take a copy of their birth certificates with you.

| When this happened at the airport we had to have a letter from the parent, or unless it was plainly obvious the child was theirs we would let it go. It was on our heads as were were the last point before someone could smuggle a child out of the country.
Carry a letter just in case honey and you wont have too many probs if any at all :)
