| As two middle agers, we are hoping to have a nice relaxing holiday in March for one week. Never been to the area before, and cannot decide upon Tavira or Lagos. We do not want beaches, night life or golf, but are looking for somewhere with a bit of character, plenty of nice quiet bars/restaurants, and places to visit nearby, and maybe somewhere to walk round in the evening.
Can anyone who has been to both places, (or anywhere else you think would be what we`re looking for) advise where would be best?

| i briefley visited Tavira wirch is very quiet and traditional but realy not very much there , i would say that its more of a day trip place!
Lagos however is lovley , very traditional , with lots of cobbled streets
many small and friendly resteraunts and lots of local charm.

| i HAVE JUST CAME BACK FROM LAGOS AND IT IS LOVELY WHERE ARE YOU STAYING. THE MARINA IS A MUST AND IF YOU GO OVER THE BRIDGE THERE IS SOME NICE RESTAURANTS THERE AS WELL. I WOULD CHANGE MONEY BEFORE I WENT AS IF YOU WERE NOT CHANGING A LOT THEY GIVE YOU A POOR RATE. ALSO SOMEOF THE BANKS WONT CHANGE THE MONEY IFYOU ARE NOT THERE CUSTOMERS.

| I'd plump for Tavira, whilst it is quieter, you can go for gorgeous walks along the beach and to the nearby village of Sta Luzia, or even done to Quatro Aguas where the boat to the island (beach) goes from. Also, nowhere is far on the train (Faro is really worth spending sometime in). Then on Thursday night there's the CineClub de Tavira which often shows English films. OK, it is a bit more low key, but if that's what your after, I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself.
