I just wondered if anyone has been to the resort of Ellmau in the Tirol, we have been going there since 1994 and love it more each time.
We started off with Airtours staying at the Kaiserblick Hotel which was very nice indeed with good food and confortable rooms.
After 3 years at the Kaiserblick we decided to move to the Hotel Hochfilzer in the village centre and travelled with Crystal Holidays. The hotel is most friendly, excellent for families and has their own walking guide called Didi everyones favourite person. The food is excellent and the accommodation also very comfortable. The owner is very hospitable also.
We have been travelling independently now for a number of years with a flight into Munich and onwards by train to Kufstein.
Last year we decided to move on again to the Ellmau Sporthotel which is excellent! Very comfortable rooms, excellent! cusine, and beautiful gardens to relax in.
Ellmau itself, is a village that will suit all clients gentle walks for those who are not hikers. Numerous walks on both sides of the mountain ranges, for the tame and serious hiker. Chair lifts, gondolas, a free bus to take guests around the surrounding villages. A leisure centre with an indoor and outdoor swimming pool a man made beach and picnic area. nearby bathing lakes, a 27 hole golf course, a crazy golf course. Village activities with a weekly street market, brass bands.
Ellmau, and Austria offer a relatively safe holiday from the very young to the very old, with no worries about vaccinations, mosquitos, etc etc, and prices are affordable, the supermarkets are good value.
I would suggest that families take a break from the beach and try the man made beaches and lakes of Austria for a healthy holiday.
