Forget liverpool, brussels is the new culture capital. It is really great place and i cant help going back there.
I usualy stay at the hotel ibis off grand place, which is usually about 6o pounds a night which is good value for a capital city.
The best sites to see.
1. grand place. spitting distance from the hotel, it is always full of people even at 2am! careful in august though as there is a huge stage there for a festival.
2. mannekan pis. a world famous statue of a small weeing boy. can't miss it. signposted from grand place.
3. The atomium. metro stop rau baudoin it is the site for expo 58, the main feature is still there, a huge model atom, that you can go up to the top of and get a great view. i think its now a restaurant up there.
4. Bourse/bruckere. the main shopping street.
5. Cinquantenaire. a really good FREE museum of army, nothing like UK museums, it has tanks, Massive planes, bbombs, everything. you can even go up to the top of the triumph arch there that can be seen miles away. (check open times).
hope this is some use, if it works theres a video of grand place on here!
