im going to los angeles and its been recommended to me to stay at 2 different hotels, first stay will be at the Sheraton , Anaheim and the second at the Holiday Inn hollywood walk of fame, both hotels are excellent prices for the quality you get. Hope this helps!

We have just got back from a holiday in California, we stayed at the Holiday inn Santa Monica in LA. This was a very clean and friendly hotel, the staff were all very helpful and it is only a few minutes walk to the beach and the shops.
In San Francisco we also stayed at a Holiday Inn in Fishermans Wharf, this hotel was also fine and very near all the attractions, you could walk anywhere, but fishermans wharf is a big tourist area.
Hope this helps let me know if you want any more info.

It's been a while since we stayed in Los Angeles but back in 1996 we stayed at the Best Western Hollywood Plaza (just up the road from the Holiday Inn). Nothing fancy - clean and walking distance to Chinese Theatre etc. In 2002 we stayed in the Andrews Hotel ( http://www.andrewshotel.com/ ) in San Francisco near Union Square, got a very good rate through Expedia. Nice hotel and would stay there again.

Hi for Lo Angeles Holiday Inn walk of fame in Hollywood or the Crowne Plaza Beverleyhills or if you want to be near Disney then again the Holiday Inn in Anaheim is a good bet
In San Francisco either the Sheraton fishermans wharf or Westin St Francis and Hilton in Union Square are well positioned
Hope you have a great time

hello angholcombe,
Was this the Holiday Inn at the pier in Santa Monica.
We are thinking of staying there for 5/7 nights next year. We will use it as a base to have a look at LA and some parks. We also hope to get some beach time. Does sound a good idea?

Hi, we've just got back from the LA area and stayed in a 2 bedroomed/2 bathroomed condo which was rented from vacationrentals.com. for 450 for 4 of us for a week stay. The facilities were excellent - much better than being in a hotel and was well situated for travelling around the area. We thought that Hollywood was a dump with lots of tourist tat shops and were very disappointed but we loved Venice Beach as it was full of character! All down the Pacific Coast Highway there are some great beach resorts - we stayed in Dana Point next to Laguna Beach - both lovely resorts. We also travelled inland to Lake Elsinore through the National Park which was lovely. I would advise you to get sat nav on your hire car as this saved us so much time and fuel! It also makes sure you're on the right side of the freeways for your destination which is a real bonus!! Any questions about LA area please post as we travelled almost 900 miles in the week so saw a lot of the area.

these are many hotels where you can stay, but they are damn costly, the best option is to go the vacationrentals, and you can get a variety of places to stay. plus you will have an entire property at your diposal
