Nightlife In Cancun

There are loads of bars and clubs in the hotel zone in Cancun. It is very "Americanised" with places such as Bubba Gump Shrimp, Starbucks, Hard Rock Cafe, Margaritaville, Outback Steak house etc. and there are also large air conditioned malls with lots of designer shops. The clubs are large and most operate a pay 1 price and then open bar policy - this is about $40-$60 depending on the club. The hotel we stayed in (Riu Caribe) had transport to a different club most nights at 1030pm and you could buy a ticket from them which gave you VIP access (no queueing) and a reserved table at the same price as you would pay at the entrance. It's easy to get back to your hotel as the great bus service for 6.5 pesos(about 30p) runs constantly - we got buses easily at 3-4am! We liked Coco Bongo, Dady Rock & Senor Frog's.
The beaches are ok but suffered a lot from the Hurricane of last year. Most of the hotels have lovely pool areas and we found the food really good in our hotel (all inclusive). We didn't eat out at all as the food was so varied and good in the hotel. We also had nightly shows in the hotel at 9-10pm which were surprisingly good! There are plenty trips to go on - boat trip to Isla Mujeres, Chichen Itza (Mayan ruins), Xcaret Mexican theme park, boat to Cozumel, swim with dolphins and Xel ha nature park so I'm sure you would find plenty to do. The local men are not so full on as the Turkish men though!! Be prepared for a long flight - it's about 10-11 hours. The airport in Cancun is fine and immigration and customs didn't take long to get through. Keep $46 each for departure tax for the way home. We felt very safe here and saw no signs of trouble - just some very drunk Americans!!
