Swimming with dolphins

Postby Finnsmummy on Fri May 23, 2008 3:18 pm

We are going to Cancun next year and will want to swim with dolphins (2 adults & 9 year old) - can anyone give me some feedback on the best places (for us and the dolphins)

It seems you can do this type of trip almost everywhere but want to know the plus points of different places and know the dolphins are well treated etc

Appreciate any responses

Dolphins are best seen in their natural habitat swimming in the sea, not jumping about in an aquarium performing tricks etc.
I have seen dolphins in the sea and its such a lovely sight I wouldnt want it any other way.
I personally would not visit this sort of place, thats just my opinion.

If you do a day trip to Isla Mujeres, I think there is a package deal for the day where you can swim with the dolphins and enjoy the day on the island. We booked a day trip only when we stayed at the Barcel Tucancun Hotel - you could book trips from the hotel. We personally found being able to swim with dolphins too expensive. We went for 2nd best - had a cuddle with a baby shark - it didn't have any teeth tho!

Ive just come back from Cancun and you can swim with dolphins at numerous places. There is an Aquarium at La Isla shopping centre, where you can also feed sharks, you can go to Isla Mujurees, Xcaret, Puerto Aventures, too many places to metion.
We swam with the Dolphins at the Aquarium and it cost $135 (roughly 65-70) and the programme lasts 1 hour. Well worth it!
By the way, Cancun is fantastic, make sure you visit Coco Bongo's one night......spectacular!!! Enjoy!
