Hi,
Has anyone got any info regarding the Golden View Hotel in Sinarades, Corfu? I have seen it on a few sites but I can`t seem to find any reviews on the place. Thanks in advance.

The Golden View Hotel has just been renamed from The Yaliscari Palace for next (2008) season.

just returned from the golden view hotel, Sinardes corfu the hotel was very isolated but had fantastic views if all you want is to sit around the pool after a very good breakfast in the candy floss pink and white dining room then this hotel is for you, parts of the hotel still needs to be updated, overall we enjoyed our week the staff were very friendly, and on our last night the manager gave us a taste of the famous Mataxa brandy, you dont get such a good brandy on all inclusive we were on holiday in may 2008 hope you find this information helpful.Vivienne, my sister Karen and my sister-in-law Diann from Cornwall.

This hotel is not 5* in the slightest. The rooms are outdated. There was no hot water.
The restaurant resembled the furniture as you would expect at a children's tea party, the salad was brown, the vegetables tinned, the meat mostly fat or bone, and 90 percent of the time the food was stone cold.
Frequently ran out of alcohol, there are not enough bars or even staff for that matter as they could not even cope with the volumes of guests when the hotel was only half full.
The sun loungers were all broken.
The entertainment was a joke, bad singing, the attitude of the entertainment was patronising as if the guests were children when in fact they were ALL adults. The quizzes were the same questions as your local pub, the music was just cheesy pop or the YMCA. In short completely ridiculous.
The staff at the reception were helpful as was the bar tender for the pool bar, the rest had an angry arrogant attitude.

Rating - 3/10

And another point the WWW.HOTELS4U.COM company rep is useless and unhelpful.

Top tip any excursions or transfers of any kind, book the with Stefan of Olympus he is with the hotel.

hi just got back from golden view today was very dissappointing, it was by no means a 4* or 5* hotel as stated in the travel brochures more like a 2*, the food was very plain tinned veg and the salads was not fresh and not much choice, the tea and coffee was cold, only one machine for hundreds of guests hence long queues, bars were under staffed and under stocked hence again long queues day and night. water in the showers was cold no drink making facilities in the rooms and only uk tv channel was news 24, the rooms desperately need modersation, reception staff were rude and unhelpful, the pool was unheated and believe me it was cold, if you luckly enough to find a sunbed not saved all day by towels it will be most definately be broken, the views are stunning but don t think booking a sea view will guantee you a sea view . be prepared for the hotel to run out of beer, spirits, butter, marg, ice- cream, milk , eggs etc. if you have a late flight be prepared to be charged 50-55 euros to keep the room for a few hours, i hope this helps you not to choose this hotel as we were conned and certainly not go back there again. trev n jayne

I had a dreadful two weeks at this hotel, believe the bad reviews and not the good. God alone knows how anybody had a good time here, it's put me off going on holiday again, it was that bad. My girlfriend got sick on the first day and a month later still hasn't recovered. The room stank of raw sewage, due probably to the huge septic tank that's very close to the hotel. There was frequently no hot water. Some of the staff were good, the bar staff, the animation team and Helen, one of the receptionists being the sum total. The remainder were either disinterested at best and downright rude, obnoxious and unprofessional in other cases, particularly the maitre d' in the restaurant who's attitude was quite threatening. Meals were eaten in a rush just to try to avoid him stalking up to the table and hurling abuse in a patronising manner and I witnessed several guests being left open mouthed in shock, were he my employee I'd send him to the sewage farm to shovel the refuse, it's about all he's worthy of. This hotel is cheap but that doesn't make it value for money, I went and tried my best to have a good time but was constantly thwarted in this, everything that could have gone wrong went wrong. The transport links to anywhere are virtually none existant and even the day trips organised by the hotel are massively over-priced. I've posted several reviews on different sites to try to help others avoid the disappointment I felt. Next year I'll stay at home.
