having never been to corfu before. we are considering booking into accomadation in san stefanos. can anyone who has been there tell me is it very hilly? (as we have walking difficulties). which is the best accomadation that is on the "flat" area of the resort. also can you please give me some examples of the food prices in the restaurants etc. eg:- prices of greek salad and price of beer etc.

Hi Newks
The first thing you need to do is find out which San Stefanos you are looking at as there are at least 2 in Corfu! One is on the north-east coast near Kalami and has a tiny little bay with a pebble beach and steep hillside with accommodation up the hill. There are a few tavernas and shops. The San Stefanos on the north-west coast is a more spread out resort with a sandy beach and sand dunes. No sea-front as such that I can remember. Again not a lot of shops or tavernas. It's several years since I visited either of these resorts.
Last September in Agios Gordios we were paying between 28 and 35 for a 2-course meal for 2 with drinks. I think a greek salad would be about 4 or 5 and beer probably about 2.50. Sorry I'm not sure about the beer because I don't drink it and Hubby usually pays. A half litre of wine was about 3. Sprits are about 4.
Your best bet for info about all aspects of Corfu is at www.agni.gr/ . There is also an excellent forum on this site. Someone will help you better than me.
Cheers, Jean

I agree basically with Jean although my wife and I are perhaps more frugal on our total meal costs.

I do not know the NE San Stefanos so cannot comment on that resort.

However if it the NW one you are considering then then you must be aware that a lot of holiday accommodation is on a long and quite steep hill. So take your time researching BEFORE you book. Make a short list of possible apartments or hotels and then post a message on the San Stefanos NW Message Board on the web-site which Jean recommended and regulars to the resort will help you.
