We've never visited the Costa Brava before, but would like to spend a few days in Barcelona and also spend some time at a nearby coastal resort. Any info/suggestions would be very welcome.

Thanks!

Hi There,

It depends on what your looking for in a coastal resort, If you are looking for something lively with a lot of british themed bars i would definately recommend Loret De Mar.

Thanks for your reply. We are probably looking for somewhere a little quieter though, but with some nice places to eat out.

Hi Just returned from doing the same, we spent 2 nights in barcelona , this was not enough we will go back some time for 4 more.So much to see and do a really exciting city i loved it !! and i hate cities, hence only 2 nights booked. Word of advice DONT DRIVE i did it was terrible never again.!
We flew to Gerona so after going in land to a place called Cardona where we stayed in a Parador called cardona castle we wanted a beach resort not too far from the airport so we chose Platja d'Aro, We thoroughly enjoyed it, it is really clean the shop really expensive so didn't buy anything (thats a good thing). There's plenty of choice of restaurants. We stayed in the Comtat saint Jordi apart/hotel it was only 15 per night each, through travel republic, it was clean tidy had a nice pool and really close to the beach although not on it.
The day we left we went into Gerona which is another beautiful city. Medevial i thinks any way was really good mix of busy times and relaxing times.
Have a great time, if you go brush up on your spanish as they speak very little english there.

anyone going to barcelona should check out the accomodation offered by www.flatbydays.com , the staff and management are always really helpful whatever your budget. the apartments are clean and very comfortable and in all the good areas of barcelona. all are in good locations close to the museums, nightlife, tourist attractions etc. also more information on where to go, whats on , rests , bars and shops are listed on www.timeout.com just select barcelona from the city info , extremley helpful.

I would suggest stay in Callella then you are on the train route for all resorts including Barcelona.
