General information about crete

Me & my boyfriend have just booked a holiday for koni village appartments, stalis, for next june/july! Anyone no how far it is into hersonissos from here? Walking distance/taxi ride? Is it generally expensive here? Beaches? Anywhere recommended to go? It's our first holiday abroad ever and want to make the most of it! Cheers

Ive been looking at maybe going to crete soon,there is lots of info on tripadvisor, some on also there is Crete Travel.com with lots of pics take a look at the pics.
On tripadvisor you dont have to go to a certain hotel page to view all the pics you can just type the place ie stalis or wherever then look at all the candid photos other folks have taken.

I love crete it's beautiful. Stalis is quite a long way from Hersonis you certainly can't walk it. Stalis is right next to Malia which is Cretes party town so you've got (in my opinion) the best of both worlds. Stalis is more for familys with bars and restaurants but You can walk easily to Malia for Dancing and fun bars. Have a great time. Be warned Crete is HOT, I've been in May and September and it was pushing 40 degrees each time so wear lots of sunscreen and take a wide brimed hat, there are few things worse than suffering from sunstroke on your holiday that you've waited all year for!! That was very school teachery wasn't it. Have fun!!

hersonissos about 10 mins by taxi
there is a bus service that runs along the highway (more like a main road)
but the busses in crete turn up as and when they feel like it

the beach in stalis is great as is the beach in malia
if u like the beach quiet malia is good in the day cos everyone is still in bed in malia recovering from the night before!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
