Can anyone tell me what is the best way to take spending money to Croatia. Is it cash or TC's and if so should they be sterling TC's or Euros.

Hi Bosschick
We went to Croatia last year. I think we ordered some currency (Kuna) for the first few days then we just used the ATMs. We haven't taken traveller's cheques for a few years. If you do an ATM finder search on Google you will be able to find out whether or not there are any machines where you are staying. We did notice that the machines in Croatia give you the money before returning your card so don't leave it in the machine.
As far as the economics of this go I don't know which is best. You pay commission on T/Cheques when buying and exchanging but you can also pay bank charges for using ATMs and making purchases with debit cards(LloydsTSB), you just don't have the worry of losing a lot of cheques.
We have a current account at NATIONWIDE set up specially for holidays as all their foreign banking is completely free and you get the commercial exchange rate applicable to the day of the transaction.
Hope you have a great holiday,
Regards, Jean
