| We were due to cruise to the Caribbean with Island Cruises this December, but at the time of booking last August, I didn't realise I was going to be a Mum this year!!
Island don't seem to cater for young babies so we are looking to cancel. Looking at the OV site they do seem to offer facilities from 6months on.
Has anyone got any experience of taking a young baby on OV?
We are now thinking of travelling in May 09 when little one will be 8-9 months.
Thanks in advance.

| The main problem you will have is the long flight, which is 9+ hours at best, no luggage allowance and dead arms by the time you get there/back. We took my daughter on the thomson destiny when she was a mere 2 months old, and there wasnt really anything for her until she was around 3 when she could go to the kids club.
Havent been on the OV though so it may be different as to activities for the smaller generation.

Hi CornishCruiser,
Much as it pains me to say it, at this stage of your life cruising may not be the best option for you both. On all cruise lines small babies are not very well catered for, at best just a look in sitting service, long flights are certainly a major problem and while OV is a nice ship, I think that maybe this time you should save money by just going somewhere with a very short flight time to see how baby copes with flying.
Most ‘kids clubs' start at 3/4years old and go up in every two years to a different group. Can't remember seeing or reading about a nursery on our OV cruises or even a baby listening service, this you should check with P&O (OV cruises) before you change or book another cruise.
Good Luck with your cancellation, and congratulations on your forthcoming parenthood. May you all enjoy many pleasant cruises together.

| Thanks for your comments.
Since taking up cruising a couple of years ago, my Hubby is now against land based holidays (he gets so bored stuck in a resort), but I've shared your reservations over taking such a little one on board. Like you say, perhaps we need to wait a while longer.
Will have to try & talk other half around!! It's got to be a holiday for me too!!!
