Hi, we are going to the melia in february next year. We have been to Cuba twice before staying at the Sol next door. 1st year we went it was out of this world last year it had lost its sparkle.
Visited the Melia to have a look and it looks a much better hotel. Would love to hear from anyone who has stayed there this year, experiences good or bad. Can you upgrade your room when you get there as Thomas cook could not give us the upgrade at the time of booking.
Cheers

Hi Jacquie
We stayed at this resort last October - transferred there from the Sol which we didn't like and we we're really glad we made the switch.
We didn't feel the need to upgrade our rooom as the one we were given was clean, well located, spacious and had a bath and shower. Food at all the restaurants was good with lots of choice. You can get pasta, stir fry's, meats and fish cooked freshly for you at the dinner buffet and the pizza's at the italian restaurant at lunchtime were some of the best I've ever had.
We enjoyed it so much we have booked to go back again this year (October again) which we've never done before as we like to try different places.
There are bottles of 'champagne' available in the lobby bar and beach walk gazebo (daytime only) for you to help yourself to at any time - saves the wait at the bar during busy times.
You'll have a great time and in my opinion have definitely made the right choice.
Cheers
