I am looking to come to the Iberostar in Cayo Guillermo for Christmas and New Year in 2008 but after reading many reports we are put of by reports of mosquitos and other biting insects around this time of year!
It looks like there is a problem in the Cayo's in general with this?

One of our party suffers from very bad allergic reaction to being bitten!
We go to the Dom Rep every year and it seems not too bad there, however they seem to be very proactive in spraying their resort areas.

Is this as big a problem as people make out?

We are going to Cuba in July this year and have been warned about it being "mozzy heaven". A friend who is just back from the Dom Rep says that Avon's "Skin So Soft" range is very good for keeping the
mozzies away. Aparently there is something in it which they hate !

I have also heard about taking odourless Garlic tablets everyday for a month before you travel and during your holiday.

Worth a try !!

we were out in Cayo coco 2 summers ago and yes the mosquitos were awful i personally suffer from being bitten but have never been bitten like I was out there. I had to have treatment from the doctor (couse of injections and even the doctor could not beleive them/) and this reallty spoilt my holiday also after i returned home i was quite ill for three days we think it was the insect bites poisen that had got into my blood stream. they do all they can? yes they fumigate am and pm and yes it is while you are out there walking about a good lung full at times Sorry to be so down about this but yes it did spoil my holiday and this would be the reason i would not go again Cuba is a marvelous place and so glad i have been, but could not put up with the M again

hi all.i have just come back last sunday 22nd june from the ID in cayo guillermo.as a rule i get bitten to death and have allergic reaction to bites.also needed medical help.this year i used Avon skin-so-soft dry oil spray and it was brilliant.only bitten 3 times and with my little zapper on hand they were ok.
