Getting Married in Cyprus

Postby JulieSam on Sat Feb 23, 2008 10:29 am

My sister is getting married in Paphos in August 2008. 55 of us are staying in villas throughout the Coral Bay area. I was wondering if anyone could help, all the weddings available on the net seem to be based in chapels or hotels, my sister is looking for a very traditional wedding, set in a beachfront taverna with a meze and all the traditional dancing and stuff. The lady we have arranged our villas through is russian and she is trying to help us but the language barrier alone seems to be a problem. I've seen The Cyprus Piper on several of these forums now and he seems to be a great help. I'm appealing to Kev for help but also anyone else who can help. We lived in Dhekelia between 1978 and 1980 and attended greek weddings so we have a good idea of what we want, but since then Cyprus seems to have taken off big style and no one seems to have any idea of 'traditional' anymore. On another forum there was a good write up on a taverna called Phideas, has anyone any idea if they could cater for 55 people and would they allow the ceremony to take place there?
All help gratefully received :-)
