Hi all,
We are getting married in June 2007 and want to book in Cyprus. We like Limassol but are pretty open to any recomendations!
I am divorced and not been christened. Could anyone advise the legalities? We would like to marry in a chapel if possible and don't mind if it's on the hotel.
We are just taking our immediate family (parents and brothers) and one best man and his wife, are they okay to be winesses?
Sorry lot of questions but on looking at website offereing the whole shebang it gets confusing as they all seem to differ!::roll:
Thanks in advance
Sharon
Wedding in Cyprus 2007
Hi Sharon,
Welcome to HW, I'm sure someone will be able to answer your questions, quite a few people who pop in now and again have got married in Cyprus.

Hi there,
I'm also planning my wedding in cyprus for June 2007! It's proving to be a bit of a nightmare deciding on the hotel/location for the wedding.
I don't know about legalities but there are a few good sites offering this info - you can just have a civil ceremony and you don't need to be christened and the marraige is legal in the UK.
I don't know much about cyprus, but have been reading through guide books and on websites. I have chosen Paphos as it seems to be get the best write ups - and i've checked out a lot of stuff.
The two hotels I have picked out as my favourites are the coral bay hotel 5* and Riu Cyria Maris 4*. I am waiting to hear about a price on these for our stay and our guests stay - we have about 20 coming with us. Both of these hotels offer civil ceremonys either in the hotel or outside - i think it costs more to marry outside.
Keep in touch as i'm sure over the coming year we could exchange ideas we have.
Kind Regards
Lorraine

Congratulations Lorraine!
We would like to marry in a chapel but failing that outside I think. We have a few brochures we have looked at. We have about ten people coming with us and will have a reception on return.
Have not contacted any planners yet but think we will use one as it seems easier.
Yep, be good to keep in touch, will pass on any useful info!:)

Dear Starrie
My name is Celia and i am the managing director of CyprusConfetti, The Wedding Planning Company.
If you are divorced it is not a problem you will just need to bring with you the original Divorced Certificate, which must be final and absolute. if you send me your email address i will send you the full requirements that are needed in order to get married in Cyprus. With regards to being christened. All you will need is your birth certificate not your christening certificate so this is also not a problem!
You can get married in a chapel or on the hotel grounds this is up to you. If you would like to email me i would love to go through all this with you in more detail.
I hope that this has been helpful to you.
please visit www.cyprusconfetti.com for information, pictures and ideas on getting married in Cyprus.

Hi all
Wee update...
I wrote to Cyprus Dream Wedding but have had no reply?!
Does anyone know if you can book the wedding through the hotel and get a coordinator or do you have to go with a wedding planner? Is there a price difference?

Hi
I went to Cyprus last August for a friends wedding, they had it at Adams beach hotel in Nissi Beach and it was fantastic, about 40 of us went and everyone enjoyed it.
My brother also got married in Cyprus last March in St Georges chapel Ayia Napa but think it books up pretty quickly as it is so beautiful, he is deaf and they even managed get a sign language interpreter.
Hope everything goes well

hi all,
my son got married in cyprus a couple of years ago....at the grecian sands hotel in aya napa... the hotel is out of the main drag of the resort, but has its own chapel, very tiny but beautiful...the hotel stands right by the beach and we had some lovely photos with the sea behind....my son has not been christened and my daughter in law was a catholic, it did not matter, the chapel has to cater for all denominations. regarding limmasol, not my favourite place, has had a lot of rebuilding, very busy, traffic terrible, and it is a port for cruise ships and other.. so beach not great, and a funny colour.
ays napa and protaras, nissi bay.. the beaches here are far nicer and transport between these resorts, is catered for by bus.however in cyprus they drive on the same side of the road as us, and we usually hire a car for 3 days to travel around.. but we DREAD travellling through limmasol, larnaca is ok, and the ride down to paphos is very scenic...
hope this helps, there are some nice hotels in protaras as well, at the Grecian Sands my son was upgraded to a room with a large balcony with his own sunbeds etc., pity I did not have a digital camera at that time, as I would have sent you some photos. hope this helps.carolB

ps.. my son and his wife only had to go to the town hall in AYA NAPA to register their detail, birth certificate etc., this seemed to be the only official matter to be done.. the tour rep arranged use of chapel, photographers etc.,
you do have to remember, that you may have to change your passport name before you go to cyprus .... not sure about this one.
