I will be 27 next year and my parents have decided that they would like to take me on holiday next year as I have had a tough couple of years with my health, former partner etc. We are not beach holiday people - a fortnight sunbathing will drive me insane. Also trekking in some remote part of a country is out of the question as both my mother and I have knee problems and my mother also has back problems. I will be having my own room and am allowed to do my own thing from time to time. Due to my mother working at a university, she is only allowed to take a holiday between end May - mid Sept.

With the knee and back problems I suggest you look for somewhere flatish. There are a lot of places in the canaries that are quite flat and also some places in Greece. We go on Sun Hols to Greece but we do not spend it sunbathing we have days where we are in the pool with all the kids then we have days where we go on trips and see some interesting thing like Archeology sites and Historical Places.
There is also places like Venice in Italy which may appeal to you although Italy can be quite expensive at times compared to the likes of Spain, Greece and Turkey. I suppose it depends whever you are into architecture, history or whatever .
Just my thoughts ! Maybe if you let us know what you are really interested in we may be able to help you more. May/June/Sept are good months to go on holiday as there are a lot of bargains about for these months for european resorts, not sure about venice though.
