Best for Veggies?
I'm a strict vegetarian and often encounter difficulties with food when travelling abroad - has anyone found anywhere in the world that is as veggie friendly as the UK?

Just back from hanioti, there are stuffed peppers with rice, stuffed tomatoes with rice.garlic bread, pasta , jacket potatoes and proper nice veggie burgers.Didn't want to come home.
Also lots of greek veggie salads available too.

Never found any where truly vegetarian. Always find self catering best with a few meals out once you have looked around. Some websites give you lists of vegetarian establishments in the areas you wish to travel so search for these. As you are vegetarian are you also an animal lover. I am desterately trying to find a warm beach resort where I will not be haunted by hoards of sick, injured or starving cats and dogs or somwhere I can at least access help for them if there is a problem. So many holidays have been ruined for me by this. Can you help?

I'm not a vegetarian but I only drink Soya Milk, I have problems finding Soya Milk on Holiday, does anyone know if you can buy the powder version in the UK ? I know you can buy small cartons of soya but never seen soya powder.
Soya powder would be so much easier to take on holiday.

Goa is great for veggie food - I only eat veggie, seafood and fish while I'm there as the meat is not the best! It's so cheap too- main meals are ony about 1-4.
Also Thailand is a good, and again cheap, place to eat veggie food.
Don't go to Austria as it's meat every meal!!

Thanks guys :O)
Sorry can't help with the soya milk haven't seen any powdered but let me know if you find it!
Regarding animal friendly countries I haven't found anywhere either - I would stay well away from Tunisia as they are notoriously cruel to animals it would break my heart - never going there! :O(
Maybe we'll get a decent summer in the UK next year - would love to try out one of those veggie/vegan B&B/Hotels!

Kerela in Southern India is almost meat free!
But keep it quiet as this is where all the hippies have gone to now, as Goa is full of package tourists.

I was going to say Tunisia, as they don't have much meat in their diet, but you obviously don't want to go there. I wouldn't say that they are cruel to the animals as such, its usually just the way that they kill them to make them Halal, but you will see the same thing in any Muslim country, even in the UK they still do it the same way.
