Liars on Holiday Watchdog

Postby carole noble on Tue Aug 16, 2005 3:02 pm

It has come to my attention that some people lie about the hotels that theyu have stopped in and sadly say bad things about GOOD hotels? Who agrees with me? :icon_grrs

i think everybody's tastes are different you might be the sort that wants a young and lively hotel with music blareing till the early hours and the people in the next room might like to go to bed at 10pm so your reviews on the same hotel will be totaly different there are other prime examples but you get the idea live and let live tell it as you see it

I agree with cris on this one.

Everyone has the right to thier own opinion on the hotels they have stayed in.
What's good for some, isn't for others.

I think the use of the words "liars " and "lie" is a bit strong, when its a persons opinion.

Hi Carole,
In general most of us on HW are truthful about our holiday and indeed our hotels, and as already stated above not everyone agrees with what is writen, we hopefully welcome all views. Please feel free to submit any that you have, I am sure like us you can sort the good from the bad.
Welcome to the freedom of HW I hope you enjoy reading some of the other intresting posts, mine in particular.

PS I think everyone should go CRUISING.

I dont think people lie about bad experiences on holiday. However, I do believe that if an aspect of a holiday goes wrong, there is a tendency to have a negative outlook about the holiday.

For example if an aspect re the hotel is not up to their expectations or is genuinely unacceptable, then everything about the hotel is unacceptable whether it is good or bad.

I am in contact with holidaymakers at least 12 hours per day everyday throughout the summer season in Turkey and one persons experience of a hotel, restaurant, tour can be completely different from another.

I agree with Chris. Our first experience of abroad in 2001 was to 3 hotel complex hotel in Majorica . The hotel we stayed in was the queit hotel of the three and really enjoyed the hotel and the experience of holiday abroad. There were other people, quite a few actually who decided (rightly or wrongly)that this complex was holiday from hell and is quite often now gets similar reviews of holiday from hell.

I tend to read all the views of a hotel i fancy and try to break it down by getting the good points and the bad points in prespective and when I do a review I tell the people of the good points and the bad points.

I think that it is down to every individuals taste and their idea of a good holiday or good hotel. For example I would not be happy in a hotel where people are still drinking and behaving unruly at 4am in the morning.

Hi everyone,

I am sorry but i am going to agree with Cris again!

I went to a hotel called Los Zocos in Costa Teguise, Lanzarote last Xmas and we had a really good time. The food was amazing and the rooms were spotless. However i was reading a holiday review on Holiday Watchdog and someone on there said that it was the worst hotel they had been to, the food was awful and they had cockroaches in their apartment! We never saw any cockroaches during our stay!

As Cris said, everyones tastes are different!
