MyTravel + Thomas Cook Merge
hi i work for mytravel/airtours direct and we got told that we was going to losse are jobs, but it had nothink to do with the merger, we got offered to work from home which is a good idea as now we do not have to be made redundant, so that means that i do not have to go looking for another job... has any one else been made reduntand from the company...

MyTravel + Thomas Cook Merge
realistically
by the beginning of Nov 2007 there will be 2 major players
thomas cook my travel=1
thomson tui/first choice=2
probably resulting in north westmy travel call centre offices and approx 200 shops closing for thomas cook /my travel
and first choice probably closing manchester or creawley office and approx 300/400 thomson /first choice shops
in towns where they have both shops they will keep open the most profitable (usually first choice) and simply rebrand them as tui uk
so potentially by nov 2007 there will be aprox 6000 redundancies
and the high dtreet travel agents half one and all so called direct telextexportland/eclipse type bookings that were done pre mergers in expensive call centres will now be done in the high street shops they decide to keep open and the poor travel agents will start thier working day approx 3.30 /4 pm until 11pm at nigh in thier high street shops with calls directed to them from direct customers but as the customers wont know his the tour ops are not under the same contractual obligations as traditional high street booking
customers have done this to themselves
by not using travel agents
so I belive they deserve all they get
because belive me by 3 yreas post mergers 2010
discounts will be a thing of the past!!!!
and its nobodyd fault
except the customers lol!!!

I work for thomas cook airlines as cabin crew.
the main redundancies are within retail/call centres/main offices as some Thomas cook and Going Places stores will have to close resulting in savings of millions GBP.
There will be no redundancies within the airline, however there will be some demotions of which the unions are in talks with.
Thomas Cook & MyTravel have merged to create Thomas Cook Group PLC. This means that the combined companies will be able to offer wider choice to the customer within the holiday market. This is a massive step forward for the combined companies and the customer.
By March 08 the MyTravel name will have disappeared and replaced with Thomas Cook. MyTravel Airways is in the process of being rebranded Thomas Cook Airlines and shops will now all be Thomas Cook however, some Going Places stores will remain depending on which brand is stronger. (GP's mainly up north) but you will no longer see a Thomas Cook & Going places in the same town.
As for the First Choice and Tui Merger. They will continue to operate under two seperate brands (Shops & Tour Op's) however First Choice Airways will be no more and is now in the process of being rebranded Tui Fly as is Thomsonfly.
Many of the tour operator brands will still stay the same eg. Thomas Cook, Sunset, Airtours etc however jmc will also disappear!

MyTravel + Thomas Cook Merge
Until recently i worked for MyTravel - i left the company as i did not want to work for Thomas Cook as they are crap. I was proud to wear a MyTravel uniform and it was such a good company to work for. The office i worked at in Tenerife. This has been closed. All the office staff have lost their jobs and everything but Thomas Cook has been effected. We had a case that a friend told me about last week. For some reason the plane was double booked from Tenerife and it was a Thomas cook plane. All Thomas Cook customer were fine, but they took all the MyTravel customers from the plane as they said it was MyTravels fault. Erm are they now one company. I know at least 10 other staff who left Tenerife as everything went in Thomas Cook staffs favour !
