does anyone know how long these normally take to come through? I need one for myself and my 3 daughters.
Thanks

Re: passports
Ours were back in 3 weeks earlier in the year but it is quicker if you use the check and send service that is available at some post offices.Take a look at this site for more nformation.http://www.passport.gov.uk/general_howlong_check.asp

Re: Passports
Ours took 11 days...honest!
The "Check and Send" at the post office was invaluable....well worth the extra charge. And a good job I used this, as I made one teeny weeny mistake.
The postman delivered the old ones back, in the morning, and two hours later, I had a courier turn up with the new ones!
Kind of glad they did though.....we were flying a week later!! (silly me)

Re: Passports
Believe it or not my daughter's passport application was sent on a Monday by special delivery. She had previously been on my passport, which had to be sent to have her removed. This was returned on Thursday morning and her own passport was delivered by courier on the Thursday afternoon. Her birth certificate was then delivered on the Friday.
My sons both needed theirs updating and this took less than two weeks. May have been because they already held passports.
These applications were made in November and February.

I renewed my passport in June.I didn't have it checked at the post office but it only took ten days for my new one to arrive.

Re: Passports
Sent for mine, hubby's and a first one for my Son, he had been on mine since he was 15 months old, mine and hubby's expired next March so decided to beat the price increase sent off for them last Friday, Recorded Delivery, cost 4.70, used 1 envelope for all applications.
Old passports and Birth Certificate came back this morning, new Passports came 2.30pm. Brilliant! saved about 40.

Re: Passports
I remember when i was pregnant with my son and we had already booked a holiday to menorca before i found out.
I rang the passport office to find out what to do as the holiday was 4 weeks after my due date. This didn't bother me as new babies only sleep and eat - anyway, they asked me what i was having - i told them i didn't know whether it was a boy or a girl - they then asked me what will its' name be - i told them again i didn't know whether it was going to be a boy or a girl ::roll:
anyway to cut a long story short, my son was 19 days early so once i had registered his birth and got his passport pictures (6 days old) i sent them off and rang up the next day to see if received. They said yes and could take upto 3 weeks to process. I explained that my holiday was very shortly and they said if it didn't come back in time either i had to leave the new baby or not go :icon_grrs :icon_grrs - anyway, the day after i rang again to check the progress as i planned to do everyday and they couldn't trace it anywhere and therefore set off a major panic as they had no trace of it on their records for processing.
I rang up 5 times that day to see if they could trace it but no, absolutely nothing. I gave up and said i'd try again tomorrow to see if any news but believe it or not, the postman arrived at 7.30 am with the new passport and all the documents - amazing - i then rang up to let them know and thank them very much for their speed and efficiency.
Trouble is now, he's 4 and a half now and was born with jet black hair and is now white blonde and looks nothing like his picture and we always get looked at so i always carry pictures of him at different ages so they can see it is the same boy.
Anyway, just thought i'd share that with you
