| hi i would recommend the casa marina reef in sosua, This is where we got married, had a brill time staff couldn`t do enough for us. We sat in the jaccuzi every evening watching the sun go down which was breathtaking. The food was excellent and the night time shows by the animation team were excellent the costumes and scenery were first class. We went in the second week in December and they were just putting up the Xmas decoration which were lovely. The only down size was that the bar closed at 11.00 p.m. but there was a cash bar at the disco until 2.00 a.m. You could also walk into the town of Sosua which was just outside the hotel. The town has got a lovely beach and market going down into it. On the beach a local man saw you to your sun beds and could not do enough for you bringing you drinks etc and did not charge us hardly nothing at all.

| Do not go to this country. It is very corupt. They robb the safe in your room. You are almost guaranteed food poisoning. They xharge you to enter and leave. They also charge evryone for excess baggae on departure. Fascinating stuff when tou think that you arrive with luggae under weight, buy nothing, use all you toilitries and bingo suddenly your over weight. Just another scam to get money out of you. I just returned from what should have been a holiday of a lifetime but was far from it. An ordeal is more fitting. Go somewhere else and have a good holiday not an anxiety trip

| Hi, Have been to the dom rep three times, and have jus booked for the fourth time for May next year. We went for our honeymoon the first time, and will be going for our 10th wedding anniversary next time. We love it! The people are lovely, so willing to please you. You will appreciate what you have at home once you go there. We have never had any problem with our luggage, and always bring back ornaments and other gifts. We went to the north east of the island last time (two years ago) and the beaches were lovely. The hotel was the Gran Bahia San Juan (yes the one with all the stomach upsets). It was lovely, lively, beautiful beach. Rooms were large and clean. We did have a problem with our air conditioning, but we reported it to reception and they offered to move us to another room. They were really helpful. I even broke my ankle while I was there, the doctor was very efficient and even helped us with our travel insurance. We highly recommend it (once it has been given a clean bill of health). We have booked to stay at the Gran Bahia Principe Cayocoa in Samana, four star. It is supposed to be quieter than the normal lively resorts, but having read all the reviews the hotel is supposed to be of a higher class than normal. Hope this has helped a little

| Hi weve been to the Dominican Republic on several occasions and LOVE it!, we always try to go at the latest, May, if not before. we've stayed at the Casa Marina and it was very nice, But our favorite has to be the "Hotel Playa Grande", to be honest, I haven't seen it in any travel agents for a while, so dont know who does it now, but Thomsons used to do it and it had won Gold awards, oh yes it was also an "Allegro" owned resort. But where ever you go in the Dominican, I'm sure you'll have a wonderfull time. By the way, we've never had any trouble at the airports or with upset stomaches. The food in the Dominican (all hotels) can be quite repetative, if you like salad, your fine, but if your a fussy eater, you may stuggle. some people go away and want chips, egg and beans, Hienz tomato soup and sunday dinner. If this is you, you may be better off in Spain.

| hi ive been to domincan and have stayed on the east side in the sirenis cocotial which was a new hotel at the time and was great, now were looking at going back to the gran bahia principe punta cana as weve read some reviews on trip advisor and said it was a great hotel with no probs,i've never suffered from any stomach problems and the only trouble you get at the airport is you have to pay a immigration visa fee which is only about 10 pounds,i would recommend if you go to this country to stay in FOUR PLUS, FIVE STAR HOTEL as if you go for anything less you might be a bit dissapointed but it depends on your budget the hotels are reasonable anyway the gran bahia principe is a four plus 5 star and is only about 900 and thats in november all inc a good price i think, the beaches are great with powder white sands and turquoise waters you wont be dissapointed!!! but what ever hotel you pick make sure you look on trip advisor just to make sure the people that has been there have left good reviews....

| I agree with the previous post - choose 4 or 5* and you can't really go wrong. We have found the people to be friendly and the hotels spotless. We have never encountered any problems.
We have stayed at the Iberostar Costa Dorada and Riu Merengue. Both excellent hotels - this year we are trying the other side - Punta Cana (Ocean Sands) and have already booked for April 2009 - EdenH (a new hotel).

| i have been to the dom rep 3 times i went to the south first to barcelo talenquera and it wasnt great it is a 3 star but it is very run down. my second and third time was to casa marina beach and reef i stayed once in each hotel. the casa marina beach is quieter in the day if you like your siesta because the day time activites are on in the reef that is the only difference and the price its cheaper to stay in the reef. i love both of these hotels. the prices are brilliant for them i use www.otbeach.com. best prices. also do not listen to people that say its not safe it is. its just a different world to us. the appreciate everything you do. they are very kind people. i have been in september, november and had no problem with weather. i would reccommend dom rep to anyone
