Gran Ventan or Rio Mamba

Hi, We're planning to book for 2 weeks in October. Both hotels have been recommended so I would love any honest views
or opinions to help us decide.
There will be myself, hubby & 12 year old son.

At the moment I am tending to sway towards the Ventana as I haven't heard one 'downer' about it at all.

Please help so I can book & really begin to get excited!!

I have friends who have being go to the Gran Ventana in the Dom every November for quite a few years now.
So It cant be that bad.

We just booked for the ventana 2 weeks next july and we are very excited!

Been to the merengue but it was 9 years ago that was lovely but we wanted to go somewhere different this time

Went to the gGan Ventana in December a couple of years ago. Excellent food, lovely beach, comfortable rooms, liked having choice of quiet pool or loud pool with entertainment. didn't like lack of lounges to enjoy a comfortable peaceful drink and HATED the loud "Butlins" entertainment at night. All in all I'd go again

My only concern is the weather in October. We are going on the 22nd for two weeks. Anyone any info please?
