a lot of the hotels are closed in dorada this year due to a massive refurbishment.
i would recommend the gran ventana its a really loverly hotel and it located right on the beach, the hotel has really good entertainment and your right opposite the plaza which ahs a few bars and restaurants.
i have lived in the dominican for four years and trust me its 100% safe to go off the complex. really whats the point of going the dominican when you dont leave the hotel. if thats what you want id say save your money and go to spain.!!!
dominican people are beautiful happy and live life to the full. my advice to you is get out there and meet them,
