Joined: 09 May 2007 Posts: 4	we have booked for this hotel for may 2008 can anyone give me any info on this hotel because reviews seem to be very mixed but for a 5* hotel and the price we paid i should be good also any advice about the area would be very helpful this is our first visit to the dom rep, what currency, how bad are the mosquitoes at this time of year and what is the weather likley to be like sorry for all the questions thanks

Joined: 08 Jun 2007 Posts: 1	I haven't stayed in that hotel but own a couple of apartments in Cocotal golf resort behind. I think it is one of the better hotels in the area and is next to the 6 star Paradisus Palma Real. There is a shopping mall outside the hotel with a Hard Rock cafe, Tony Roma's etc and a dominican bar/club at the other end. Definitely go to Jellyfish a great restaurant down the beach about 4-5min taxi but possible to walk in same time south/right along beach and Captain Cook restaurant at El Cortecito 5min taxi between Bavaro town and Hotel. Bavaro town -15 mins taxi/$15- has a nice casino, shopping and bar/restaurant High wave for burgers/Mexican/local style food and shows sports on large screens. Great chill out bar Soles on the beach about 4-5min taxi or walk north/left along beach. Take US dollars and Dominican Peso's as currency. Mosquitos shouldn't be a problem and the weather will most likely be around 30 degrees in the day and 24 at night. I have an english speaking taxi drivers number if you want it and more info about the area. You will have a great time in the DR but I recommend to get out the hotel a couple of times at the very least or you'll miss the real DR.
