could anyone tell me if these apts are suitable for the disabled, wheelchair users,my sister wants to go and take my niece who is in a wheelchair.
we know there are no lifts but she could request a ground floor, but do you have to go up steps to get to other parts of hotel

Hi there,
I've recently got back from Grand Flamenco and think I can help you out.
We travelled with Airtours (My Travel) and they only put their clients on the ground floor as they do not think the balconies meet their Health & Safety guidelines. If you are going with anyone else, then you'd be advised to check their policy and request a ground floor room. Blocks 10,11,12 would be the best for you as they are central - perfectly placed for the bars, restaurants, entertainment and the pool. There are only one or two steps around the complex and also slopes are provided too. Access to the beach is easy and close to these blocks too. Staff are always willing to help if you need it. The only problem for you is the speciality restaurants which are up several stairs with no lifts. This is unfortunate at these are well worth trying.
Hope this helps.

I'm sure they will have a great time - we didn't have any trouble with upset stomachs, only the usual change of routine in a different climate, if you know what I mean!! I suffer with IBS and have been a little ill on most of my holidays but not in the DR. The upset stomach thing has been blown out of all proportion and has been localised at the RIU complexes which I understand are now under control. We didn't hear of anyone else geting ill either. Don't be put off, the DR is a beautiful country. :)
