| Hi everyone,
We're going to Dominican Republic in August, & just wondered if anyone may be able to help. When we previously visited Zanzibar in the Indian Ocean, people took old T-shirts to give the locals. I'm wondering whether the people here would appreciate this.
Thank you, Marie

| Hi
We were in the Dominican in May and believe me yes they would appreciate it... give them to the rep at the hotel, we were told they did weekly drops at the villages and the mountains...
We went horse riding in the mountains as an excursion trust me these people need anything and everything, they even had our toothbrushes off us, and left over deodrant. colouring books for the kids too!
Have a lovely lovely time as I am sure you will...

| Definitely bring t-shirts, toilettries and thigs for the kids etc. if you go horseriding at Joyce the american ladies ranch she said she will give them to the local chruch who distributed them. or you can give them to the reps but my only concern is that they may give them to the same people often, but maybe worth checking with them.

| Hi Emma & Nick,
Thanks for that, I'll make enquiries out there.
Maybe we should put a note on the forum for people to take a few bits with them if they have room.

| Apparently if your luggage is over your allowed weight on the way to the dominican and you tell them that it is for the locals (as long as its not way over) they usually dont mind and dont make you pay. this is what i was told by a tour guideover their so maybe worth checking out before you go!
