Please help!

before my head explodes!

Am looking for a 2 week AI trip to Dom rep July/Aug (school hols) 2009 2 adults one 15year old but having read LOADS of reviews I can't decide where to go, short list is Fun Royal, one of the riu hotels vicotia golf place or infact anywhere else that willl cost around the £3000 mark for the three of us ( quoted around £2800 for royale)

One thing that does concern me is the comments on a lot of websites that advises the hotels are open to the locals on a weekend yet have read you have to be careful going out onto the streets of the dom rep???

Stayed in riu mambo last october and they did let the locals in but i didnt really have a problem with that, they would'nt let them in if they caused guests problems.
We didnt go out other than on a trip but whiles driving throught the town the locals were all waving, i think its a mith that they advise you to not go out as i know many who have and the main reason we didnt was there was nowt in the area and being AI everythibg we nedded was there.

go to the riu one they are a fantastic hotel chain and u wont go wrong with them

gone with the gran ventana in the end got a good deal (we think) so hours of website browsing hopefully have paid off!
