Riu Bachata - Dominican Republic - Advice Needed

hi to all, myself, my partner our 2 kids and 8 others are flying to riu bachata in dom rep 3rd may 2005. all we have heard are bad things about a massive sickness bug going round. we are going to get wed over there and if anyone has advice other than dont go!!! it would be greatly received.

we stayed at the bachata last november. The hotel is lovely, the rooms are large, comfortable and very clean. The food was excellent, lots of variety and the main buffet is air conditioned. We did not hear of any sickness while we were there. The pool is wonderful but you do have to get up early to get shade, if you are beach types then there is unlimited space with shade on the beach.
we saw a couple gat married there and were impressed with the way they were cared for , we had a massive storm and at the last minute lots of staff appeared and transported all the flowers/food etc to a covered location and the couple seemed to have a great day regardless of the rain.
We also chose to marry in the DR and it was a perfect choice for us.

i have been checking the travel health advisory as we travel in august there is no new cases of sickness since january .
