Friday 21st November 2008. This is the date that the government are to debate changes to the allowances we can bring into the country.
At present the recommended limit is 3200 cigarettes and 5 litres of spirits.
It has been suggested among Labour ministers that the allowance be taken down to a mere 400 cigarettes. Why? Well, because since the smoking ban they have lost billions in tax revenue. Many people are stocking up from the continent and they want to gain back some of the taxes lost.
Moreover, an amendment to the motion will be that anyone wishing to bring more than their limit will be charged taxes at the UK rate.
Let's wait and see what happens, whatever it's plain to see that they are now panicking in the aftermath of the smoking ban.
