Currency To Take To Egypt
I took all notes but I have since got a Nationwide Account and now get cash withdrawels from ATM's for nothing. The Nationwide also offer a really good exchange rate.

Personally I never bother with traveller's cheques, Just take some cash and some cash/credit cards there are plenty of ATM machines just withdrawn cash as you need it.

Currency To Take To Egypt
We left home with just some cash and some cash/credit cards and didn't change any money for about the first three day as everywhere accepts sterling, The reason we got some LE from a bank machine was when you spend sterling they round it down to 10 to 1 but if you withdraw from a bank machine you get about 10.8 to 1, not much I know but does make things slightly cheaper.
Hope that helps

Cruise boats accept just about anything and will change money at reception for you
The reason we got some LE was when you spend sterling they round it down to 10 to 1 but if you change money you get about 10.8 to 1, on the boot they gave me the going rate which was about 10.7 to 1 not much I know but does make things slightly cheaper.

Currency To Take To Egypt
Hi, I am going to Sharm El Sheikh for two weeks in July. Have read all the comments about the currency and want to confirm the following.
If any readers have been to Sharm recently, can they advise if it is best to take British Money instead of changing to LE before leaving Britain?
I plan to go on the obvious tourist trips to the Pyramid/Valley of the Kings etc. Is anyone able to tell me what kind of price I should be expecting to pay for excursions?
Thanks

To all those asking questions about which money to take to Egypt.
This year will be my seventh trip to Egypt on the bounce. The first year I made the mistake of changing all my money into local before leaving.
I took £1000 GBP. The rate difference between UK and what I could get in the local change office cost me at least £100 as the rate difference was 1 egyptian pound per GBP, or 10%.
Get £20 sterling changed before you leave home and change the rest when you get there.
Iaintwoeyes is spot on, listen to him and don't waste your money changing to dollars and then to local!!!
