I'm off on a Nile cruise on Monday and have been reading differing stories on what sort of clothing I'll be allowed to wear (I'm female). Some have said that long sleeves and long trousers have to be worn, whilst others say I could get away with shorts/vest tops as long as they're not too clingy or too short?
Whilst I don't mind wearing a t-shirt to cover my shoulders, I'm not looking forward having to completely cover up!
As I understand it also, on the boat I will be allowed to wear swimwear - is this correct?
Many thanks.

Yes you can wear swim wear on the boat, you will also see people wearing shorts and t-shirts going round the sites but I recommend that you take the advise you were given and cover up completely whilst going round the bazaars, streets etc or you really will be frowned upon!

Hi BBWTBB,
I was also led to believe women have to cover up, so I bought long sleeved tops, what a waste of money, I never wore them!!
Just be sensible, this is a muslim country. For sunbathing wear what ever you want to wear.
Shopping, restaurants etc. short sleeve T shirt, skirt, dress no problem. If your not muslim then you don't have to dress like them. It is accepted. But, don't wear revealing clothes. Just use a bit of common sense and youll be fine.
No you don't have to wear trousers. I wore cotton trousers in the evening, just to keep the mossies at bay.
Have a lovely holiday.
