Hi all, Just a quick request, After reading all the conflicting weight issues, We are going out to Luxor 5.12.07 with Thompson Outgoing weight 15kgs, I would like to know what weight do they allow you from Luxor Airport back to Man UK, All these airlines are now as we all know taking the "P" out of their customers with extra charges so i would like to be one step ahead, hope you can oblige.
Thank you, Trebor.

Weight!
If they are anything like Ryanair it will be the same as the outgoing, Trebor.
But they allow you 10kls in your hand luggage, dont know if Thomsons are the same, but its worth checking , because really you have 25kls altogether, you just have to spread the weight around. We weighed ours before we left and then at the airport we found an empty check-in desk and weighed the bags. We had to open our case and swap things about. But I do agree with you that these airlines are just ripping everyone off these days.
In 2006 we went to New York and flew with BA, our luggage allowance was 70 KILOS!!!!! each.
Makes me sick, that if you get a cheap flight they still try to get some money back from you with these weight restrictions.

I believe it's the same each way, as per above poster. have been 3 times to Sharm & not had a problem; only last yr outgoing were we charged xs at EMA, but nothing on return.
A word of warning from posters on another forum, watch the handlers set the scales to zero as they can be quite cute at times setting it in their favour, then asking for xs charge.

Thank you Puttiluce/Sekhmet for your replies, Its about time all take a stance against these money grabbing airlines, yes, i understand they have to make a profit but does it not make you wonder, prior to 11/11 there was no big increase in baggage price, ( I will be corrected if i am wrong) The public from all over the world complain but do nothing about it, there are avenues to take, to bring these scum carriers to heal, also from what i have read about Turkey and the prices that you are charged for meal, drinks at the likes of Dalaman Airport, I cannot understand why people do not bye sandwiches/ Drinks before they arrive at the airport, if people hit them in the POCKET they will soon understand that not all people are stupid, End of sermon.
Thanks again. Trebor

I was referring to Sharm airport, old terminal.
The food is expensive there & not very appetising either so stock up before you go with snacks on the way back! And loo roll & antibacterial handwipes : )
It's very cramped. We were delayed 1.5hrs as the President was coming thru last 4th Jan....it felt like 1.5 days : (
They smoke wherever they want too & there was no tanoy system; you had to rely on hearing what was shouted or asking someone to pass the msg on like Chinese whispers; tempers were fraying!
We've not had any problems re: weight & that was our only delay in 3 trips & several internal ones over 3 yrs.
The baggage carousel screens invariably show that your luggage will be on a different one than it actually is but you just ask a man in a suit (there's loads of them) & he'll direct you; we've always been reunited with ours..........so far!

I think its a general thing now, with Ryanair you have to pay for all checked in luggage.
We went to Jamaica last year with First Choice, and they were the same, overweight luggage has to be paid for.
The days of overlooking a few kilos are over, seems to be the only way they can keep their airfares down.
