Can anyone help or give me advise. i bought a brand new caravan last month for £18000 and paid cash. This was from from Bourne leisure at Allhallows-ON-SEA, in Kent. I discovered yesterday from the manager, If i give it up they will give me £6,950 for it. I was told it would depreciate but i was not told the amount i will lose would be £11000n directly after buying it, otherwise i would not have bothered. This type of caravan is selling for £20000 outside their offices today. He said if i sell it private i could generate £1200 but I have to give them a percentage of this 15%. Plus the new owners will have to pay them pitch fee of £4000. I took out a loan for £18000 with my bank so I would not be beholding to bourne leisure. Oh he also told me i can upgrade to a newer model in a couple of years and i'll get £5000 exchange rate for on my caravan, so i presume it will be worth zero by then except for the ground rent.
On the moving in day i discovered the carpet had a mastic stain, the wardrobe door was catching on the drawer, i reported this and told the manufactures will deal with this. Then 2 stools broke the next day as we sat down to dinner. I reported it that day told the manufacture will have to deal with it also. One of their workmen came round the following weekend after i arrived to put in new screws. The fridge broke down and my food was spoit for 2 weeks running until they gave me a new one last saturday. I felt the caravan sloped to one side but they laughed when i told them, my back hurts caused by the bed angle, so i slept in the lounge area for the last 2 nights. Yesterday the Lid on the toilet broke as i turn up my trousers, i feel it the slope when i stand near the kitchen sink, in the shower and when i sit on the toilet. Its visible at the dinner table as this slopes to one side, more noticable when i have gravy on my plate. I'm on a corner pitch and have a beautiful view of the sea and I was told its a quite spot. Around 2 in the morning it seems to come alive with cars and people leaving the club house, it frightens me cause as the cars go so quick on the bend i think they will crash into the caravan. Again i told them it frightens me but to no avail.
I was staying for 2 weeks with my daughter and her friend but came home today from the stress. I am so upset and would be grateful for any advise. Thank you in advance.

They should sort out these problems for you. When we got our van, the fridge was dirty so they gave us a new one. That said it took them a while to sort out our tap but kept pestering them until they did so.

Try Citizens Advice or consult a solicitor as you may have a case against them under section 14 of the sale of goods act 1979 if the goods sold to you are not fit for purpose.

I fully agree with Roland. Talk to Citizens Advice. However be careful on Bourne Lesuires advice on selling price as this may be to scare u off selling. I say seek furthur help, as Roland said, outside the Bourne Lesuire business
