How come most people are simply interested in Spain, Turkey and Greece? Don't people want to do more than raise their skin cancer potential? I prefer Euro destinations over sun every time - there must be other people out there who would like to talk more about (non Spain) Europe and its travel industry and bargains.
Is it a Brit thing?
Thanks

SYDNEY, you she devil you, your being a bit bitchy. Each to there own. i'm like you i love the sun and spend as much time as i can in Malta ( my personal favorite ) but i also love Europe but only for a couple of days at a time. Amsterdam and Dortmund are the greatest as far as im concerned Prague and Budapest come a close second but for sun worshipers they just dont have the same appeal as a golden sandy beach , a bottle of ouzo ,or a good bottle of local wine and beautiful sun tanned girls in bikini's ( or less )strolling by ( sorry Sydney hunks in speedo's, yuk!! ). For a holiday give me the beach and sunshine every time

It is true though lol I am a bit sensitive-skinned, as it were!
Mind you, going to Berlin didn't stop me getting sunburned - that city is tooooo hot it the summer. Nevermind, it is gorgeous there so I won't be nasty to Berlin. Ok say I were to branch out and go to sunnier climes next time I go away, where would you recommend - but not Spain lol

sometimes you can have both, city breaks ith sun, take Barcelona for example, near to the beach and all the thrills of a big euro city, just don't leave your wallet lying around

Touch of snobbery going on in this thread
I tend not to check reviews that much when I'm going on city breaks purely because I'm not that interesting in the hotels and any other information I need will be found in the travel guide I buy. Perhaps other people do the same and therefore dont think about asking about city breaks as much.
Personally I like both - relaxing holidays are just as good as exploring new places. I also wouldnt write off Spain. I assume you're thinking of it as a package holiday brits abroad destination but there are some lovely places if you want to go there.

I am British, but fellow Brits is what I'd like to avoid - well only the ones who are bright pink and wasted. A friend suggested Barcelona to me. What do you think?

I really enjoyed Barcelona but it really does depend what you want from a holiday. Las Ramblas in the evening is a bit of a hen / stag night Mecca so you get a lot of drunken brits there. Of course, you dont have to go to that area (although I would recommend it at least once) but I think its difficult to avoid wasted brits at some point there.
