Hi Everyone Today it was annouced that Alitalia had filed for bankruptcy. Took a long time. I think the industry will see more yet. Rumours are rife about Tiger Airways in Australia but we will see. Perthboy

The italians will do what they usually do probably and interrupt with government funds to keep it flying. Alitalia should have gone to the dogs many years ago and would have if the italian government hadnt saved them so many times.

But i know our government would save BA without any doubt should we be in that situation.

Yes, still more failures to come this year - Excel are looking for more funding as Barclays have withdrawn their loans. They lost 24 million last year and that was nothing like this year with the cost of fuel, people trying to save money etc.

yes id read recently about XL that they have cancelled thier wintersun caribean holidays as it stated thier wasnt a need or a viability for them, considering they have recently stated that thier upgrading their longhaul aircraft fleet as of Autum 2008 could this be a costly move.
