Its one serious death toll for spain and also JKK...estimating around 148/175 dead now.
Very sad news, Spanair are well known for their safety record..i bet spanair's HQ is going mental.
Id hate to be at Barajas airport at the minute, the place is understandably very chaotic!
RIP to all those lost.

Indeed...i havent seen any pics of the crash yet, but apparently its in 2.
If fire was involved as the news say...thats an instant killer alone for the rear cabin pax if it spread, as its an MD82, the engines are at the back.
Nobody knows what type of impact, whether it was flying for a few seconds or just overran. I guess we'll find out more in due course.

All sorts of rumours doing the rounds at present, none of which it would be helpful to repeat here. Best to wait for facts I think in a situation such as this.

The worse news is that there was around twenty children were on board.
A handful were among the survivors.

hi,
i see the crash was caused because the flaps were'nt deployed before take off due to an alarm falure,i thought that pilot and co pilot went through a check list before take off to make sure all was in order.?
