| Blimey did you see the news today and the Quantas jet that had to carry out an emergency landing?
Sure glad I wasn't on that flight.
But well done to the crew for a successful landing

| It suprises me each time, however its not a thing that can ever be ruled out. Looks like a case of structural failure. With airframes expanding and contracting like balloons it can happen and has done in the past but it has been very rare over the years.
An example of another incident with structural failure was the Aloha 737 on approach when part of the ceiling ripped off and a stewardess doing cabin checks was sucked out.
And it is correct, Qantas has never lost an airframe. Had this been a small airline not well known, we would have never heard of it.

| Yes I spotted that story on bbc news the other day, the pic of the hole looked quite big. Scary thing is we usually end up around the wings when we go on our jols. I used to think it was was of the safest places to sit , being more re-inforced, but maybe this has proved me wrong now!
