Regarding the driving, the first time we went I was a bit worried but it was MUCH easier than we had expected. The theme parks are all well signposted and the area is well set up for tourists! The main routes are easy to find, and roads are marked with guiding white lines to follow at junctions. The roads are wider and much less congested than what we are used to.

we would highly recommend staying in a disney world resort hotel.. we stayed in the pop century and it was brilliant... even when our son went missing in the food court, the staff were on it straight away, with security alerted in seconds... turns out he was hiding under a table waiting for us to bring him his hotdog... the rascal
the accommodation was excellent, the pools were great, and they had the use of free life jackets so he could go in the pool while we sat n read or whatever... we didnt hire a car, but there were buses free from the resorts to all the parks and downtown disney...
