Hi
We went to florida for the first time back in 2003, there was 5 of us including a 9 month old, we stayed in the hawthonre suites in lake buena vista, it was a nice place to meet other people and a was very close to down town disney, we had a two week hoilday , then in 2005 we went again but with a addiotional little one, but this time we went for a villa which was just of ronald regan parkway, hired the car, and of we went, this time the stay was three weeks and had a lovely time, then in 2008 we was of again this time stayed in a villa on highway 27, one of the best vacations so far another three week stay but this time didnt want to come home, now we have just booked up for disney in may 2009 for four weeks cant wait!!
tips that work for us
make sure you have good insurance (comes in handy sometimes )
sort out what you want to see (mickey mouse, shamu etc )
Becareful with little ones as height restriction do apply for some of the rides in disney and most in seaworld
best deals we have found for tickets is tickets4fun which we have never had a problem with
Try Sizzlers on the 192 for a good breakfast at a very good price
lobster feast ( yummy)
All in All disney is a magical place and the dreams do come true its great fun whether you are 1 or 90, the floridians are lovely people, But the best thing is to chill relax and enjoy

Does anyone Know any good places to stay in Florida if you cannot drive.
Me and my girlfriend were excited to stay at a villa in florida just outside the Disney resort when we discovered it was 25 miles outside the resort itself.
This would not be a problem if we knew that their were buses, trams, trains or any other form of transport available near by.
Thanks to anyone who replies

Hi Sean,
I would suggest either International Drive, the 192 Kissimmee area or Disney itself.
Some hotels offer shuttle bus services to the parks from Int Drive and the 192, and Disney resorts have it as standard to the Disney Parks.
International drive had the I Trolly, which takes you everywhere along there, so things like Universal Studios and SeaWorld and Wet N Wild are all within that area. If you do go, make sure you check out Wonder Works. Just my opinion of course.
I would search thru the reviews, check out the hotel websites and see if any are within your budget etc.
You definitely need a car for most, if not all villa's out there.
Hope that helps for now until someone offers a specific hotel.

the disney transportation system from the resorts to the parks is second to none!! very quick between places, and it lets u see the other resorts too.. (for next time) we were not sure about hiring a car/driving in florida so picked the disney pop century resort because of the disney buses... when we wanted to go outwith disney resort, like to universal and sea world etc, we were told by our rep we could go to downtown disney on the bus, then get either a taxi or the i trolley buses to these places... in the end we got a taxi which was very reasonable.. and as it turned out, the best option as there was a horrendous thunderstorm and we were able to just jump into the taxi to get back to disney... we had the best time ever and we cant wait to go back next year!! (tho this time we will hire a car for part of the hol to get to the likes of busch gardens etc)
hope this helps
