Fort William
I'm going to Fort William soon and staying at the Premier Travel Inn - what's this like? Also I was hoping to go somewhere else for a few days but now sure where, any ideas?

Re: Fort William
I've not stayed in Fort William before but I have stayed around the Ben Nevis area and shopped there a few times.
You might get some ideas here

, but its mostly activity based as you can imagine from that area, and here

Take some walking boots and a waterproof jacket with you!

Re the message from Shufty - wise advise, take a coat, boots, umbrella midge cream and sun tan lotion!! Ft William gets the lot!
Ft William is a bit like a Curate's egg - good in bits and awful in others. It's fair to say that it has come on a great deal in the last few years but still has a long way to go - the problem is the turnover of tourists can make people complacent. I've had the best sea food and the worst fish supper, I've had a great bar (Grog and Gruel) and an awful dump of a bar (all in the same high street). If you are into the great outdoors then Ft William is the place. Roads from it lead to Skye (Hamish McBeth country), Inverness ( Loch ness and the monster), Glenboggle (Richard Briars land nr Roy Bridge) beaches with no-one on them but you, hills, glens and burns -its all there. Take a drive up the glen next to Ben Nevis as far as the top car park and then walk on a couple of miles to the Steall Flats - fantastic!!
For other things to do have a look at the Ft william / Lochaber web site good stuff on there - whatever you do enjoy it!!
