Center Parcs Les Bois-Francs

Postby rosiebull on Sat Jun 02, 2007 6:55 pm

Hi
We have just returned from a mid week break at Le Bois and (i hate to say this to you ) but it was awful. The only good thing was that purely by luck we were in a new villa and it was lovely. The service in the restaurants was awful especially the Italian. We along with others walked out one eve because we got fed up with waiting. On the other eve we went there my meal arrived burnt to a cinder, that was taken away and replaced with one that wasn't cooked! That eve i didn't eat. The supermarket never have fresh milk, mind you we spoke to another English woman who said her villa didn't even have a kettle, so you dont really need the milk i suppose! ( I have read other reviews where other people have said that too) I'm sorry to bring bad news but hopefully you will find it ok, i hope so. Reply if you need to know more. If you can i would try and change to another parc. Gina

Hello Chris we too have booked in August and have just found your post. Do you think the bad review was just on the restaurants or have you found that the facilities are also not up to scratch. Have you any more information about Les Bois-Francs please. thanks

Chris,

We just returned from Les Bois Francs (stayed from the 16th till the 20th of July). We had a VIP cottage (with sauna and whirlpool) en hotak service (towels, cleaning ect.). I must admit a was very sceptic about Center Parcs but all in all we liked it. The park itself is clean en very quit. Our cottage was clean except for one of the bathrooms (they came to clean it within the hour). The Aqua Mudo is clean except for the clothing rooms (they are clean in a French way). Use the clothing rooms for the men, they're cleaner.
A few tips:
- the park is big so take bicycles with you
- food and drinks are expensive. Don't reserve the breakfast because it isn't worth it. There's a supermarket (Intermarch) and gas station some 6 km from the park with a good bakery and if you don't want to cook yourselfs it's cheaper and better in the town of Verneuil (go to the information center: there is a nice walk around town an the car parc is free).
- what we liked was le tir d'arc (bow shooting) and the welness (not cheap (starts at 70) but it was worth it.
- if you want something else to do: we took the train at 8.07 from Verneuil to Paris (about 60' en 33 from the return trip). You arrive at Montparnasse where you can buy a day card ( 8,50) for the subway with a map of Paris a reduction cards.
You can also take a 2 hours drive to the beaches of Normandy where the allies landed in 1944.

Since I'm from Belgium I speak French very well but it's true most Frenchmen don't speak a second language so you will have to try to explain it in French.

hope you have a pleasant stay,

Center Parcs Les Bois-Francs

Postby simons on Tue Aug 14, 2007 8:28 pm

We just got back from Bois Francs last week

weather was not brilliant but kids loved the water slides and pool, they have just opened a new water park with slides, water deluges and hoses which was great.

accommodation was a bit musty (probably smoking) but was clean and acceptable.

service at restaurants was a bit variable (but we lived for 3 years in USA and hence regard english service as generally poor) - about 50 for meal for 6 (incl 4 children) including bottle of wine for grownups!

good tip about from someone else about intermarche in verneuil more selection than supermarket in the park.

our first time in center parcs after some of the reviews we were a bit worried but turned out fine - certainly much better than a tent given the weather.

Oh and we found out you need to gently smack the poneys to get them to move sometimes as they prefer to just munch the grass and not move with your small children on.

Take a kettle, using a coffee maker to make tea is not the same!

Hope you have a nice time
