Family holiday in France

Postby adviceseeker on Mon Sep 03, 2007 10:19 pm

Hi - am looking for a family holiday in France that meets for the following criteria:

1. It is not too far to travel
2. The weather whilst cannot be guaranteed is likely to be pretty good in the Summer holidays
3. There are family amenities but it is not too tacky!
4. There is good access to a beach/lake
5. There are lodges or similar rather than static caravans
6. The accommodation is secluded and private
7. There is a good bar/restaurant, or access to these without loud nightclubs!
8. it is suitable for young children (5 and under)

Not a lot then!!!! I am thinking of some kind of larger campsite/Holiday park but I may be missing a trick so all advice welcome! I appreciate I am asking for a lot and may have to sacrifice some of the above but it is worth a try - any advise would be fantastic!!

Cheers

Sorry forgot to mention we would like to get off site and expore so the surrounding area is important to us - access to pretty non-touristy areas would be great!!

How about L'Etang de La Breche just outside the lovely town of Saumur in the Loire? It's a Castels site and is absolutely lovely.

Cote de nacre campsite, aubin-su-mer in Normandy. we had an excellent week there last year. Mont st micheal, bayeaux, good sea food and cider. lots of holiday firms there, Thomson etc. Only 20 minutes from port in Caen.
Hope this helps

Family holiday in France

Hi, I have been going to France for quite a number of years with my family. We have not been with Matthews France, but I can tell you that Eurocamp and Keycamp have good prices and offer quality holidays.

We have also found this new site useful that compares prices on campsites across France, it may give you some more ideas on where to go. I don't think that Matthews France is listed, but some of the lesser known french operators are. It is http://www.takeuscamping.com.

Thanks, Sandra

Bellefontaine Park in Normanday seems to fit your criteria. It is a family owned and run holiday Park with plenty of amenities but not over comercial. We were there last year and you are instantly made to feel at home, it was great to watch the kids playing together as kids should rather than sat infront of a computer all day. Because of the size and ambiance of the park it is very safe for children. see their web site www.bellefontaine-park.com

Paris ... DisneyLAnd =)

It´s so great for the children .. really. You can stay there for 2 days and then you can make a trip to another place ..

I think this is the best adventure holiday for all kids =)
