| Cannot recommend hotel i'm afraid but been to paris on numerous occaisions (cannot rememmber hotel names we stayed in) but metro very good so providing your hotel is near one of those stations you should be ok.
prepare to be shocked at prices for food and drink particularly in the main tourist areas and avoid sitting outside or in the window of a restaurant or cafe as they will charge you more.
Bargains can be had if you look around side streets away from the main tourist areas where a set course meal can be had quiet reasonably.
budget hotel rooms can be very small and cramped so be prepared but its the same in most capital cities.
Paris is a lovely romantic place and great for people watching the parisians are a breed apart from anyone else ( or so they think so )
Enjoy your trip

| I went there last year for the first time and I loved it! It's a fantastic place to just walk around, see the sights, people watch and just have a wonderful break. What surprised me, however, was how incredibly expensive drinks are! Naively, I thought wine would be a bargain but not so! One place I would recommed would be Bastille which had a fabulous market to stroll around and a great bar (can't remember the name, sorry) with far cheaper drinks. The hotel we stayed in was meant to be a 4 star but I wasn't impressed. The rooms were tiny and the decor rather dated. However, if you're spending most of your time out and about then it's not such a drama.

| I stayed in a very simple Comfort Hotel about a 5 minute walk from the Arc de Triomphe. It was very convenient for all the shops and attractions of the Champs Elysée. I agree that wherever you are the metro will pretty much get you there in Paris since it is quite well spread out, like London in some regards. If it is any help, then you can get a 4% discount with this code if you book with Venere: D8KF7QL.
Best of luck!!
