Torreblanca

Anybody been to the Torreblanca Hotel in Fuengirola recently? We stayed there twice in 2000 & 2002 and it was fine, but reports on other sites say that it has deteriorated since being taken over by Medhotel. I know this happened to the Fuengirola Park but I`m hoping not to the Torreblanca as I`ve bought flights for Nov05 and would like to go back there

Yep, that looks good enough for me. It was just the standard of food that I was worried about....

We stayed in the Torreblanca area of fuengirola when we went in May but not at the Torreblanca hotel so can't comment on the food.
Couldn't resist reading the reviews. Feel I must warn you to beware of pick pockets. They were mainly gypsies selling carnations. I thought it would be easier to give a few coppers just to get past and one tried to get my notes out of my wallet. This made me very nervous. I was lucky others were not. Be very careful.
Also if you like horse riding I have put a number for Freddie on this site he is a lovely man who has a riding school in Torremolinos. He picks you up at the hotel and drops you off again after.
Hope you have a great holiday. It will be nice to be near the train station. We found the train a cheap and cheerfull way to get around. Buy your ticket from the machines on the station. We were told it is much cheaper

Thanks for the tips, we know all about the gypsies, we have been going there for almost thirty years. She actually tried the rose trick on me but I just marched ahead totally ignoring her, They won`t follow you if you do that, preferring to wait for the next victim

Well, we had our Christmas in the Torreblanca Hotel and I have to say that we were somewhat disappointed. The room was excellent, 8th floor overlooking the sea with a view from Torrequebrada in the east to the Sohaili Castillo in the west. Cleaned every day towels changed daily bed linen three times a week. The food was the problem. Breakfast was hard boiled or scrambled eggs, sausages and beans and Spanish bacon, all rather cold. Fried eggs and grilled tomatoes once a week.
Evening meals were a little better but poor variety of choice. We are not fussy eaters so we managed O.K. but for this hotel to advertise itself as 4 star is a bit of a liberty. The staff are all extremely pleasant and friendly. T.V. in the room with BBC 1 and Sky news and CNN. Two lifts serve this large hotel and broke down frequently, but were put right promptly. We were in this hotel in 2000 and 2002 and it was far better then, but as I feared it was taken over by Medhotels as was the Fuengirola Park and has gone downhill since. We won`t go there again.

Hi, just joined the forum and have visited the Torreblanca Hotel, Fuengirola in January 2006 (for 28 nights). We last went there in 2004 (January), and had a great time. Unfortunately standards have slipped. The restaurant staff are still quite friendly, and the rooms clean, but the entertainment was terrible. Very Spanish orientated.

When we did stay in the hotel, the 'resident band' played one English song, then went into Spanish mode for the remainder of the night!

The weather wasn't very good for the first two weeks, with heavy rain and thunderstorms. The heating remained off during the day, so the rooms were very cold. Also, there are loads of barking dogs in the area and a 'cafe/pub' has appeared in the railway station car park next door, which is very noisy with vehicles and drinkers late at night!

I agree that the hotel could do with refurbishment. There is a notice at the front indicating 4* - no way!
