CHANGES

Postby HW Jan.C on Wed Feb 06, 2008 6:06 pm

Holiday watchdog has had some changes,, the site is now owned by tripadvisor.
Only just found out myself today..
I am sure the site will remain as helpful and as informed as it always has been.
I am sad that this phase has come to an end. I have made some wonderful friends, and wish Chris and our OY TEKKIE all the very best in whatever they choose to do.
Bex, I love dearly shes the bees knees, and Iain :) all the name calling and threats,, I couldnt have wished to meet a nicer person in reality. Tenpin and the long suffering Mrs Tenpin are also wonderful warm people and its been a pleasure to banter with you Geoff.
The site may change but the friends we have made will always be there.!!!
Go Holidaywatchdog !!!...

Speechless!

But I would like to reiterate what Jan has said about all the HW Staff and Mods. This is one of the best holiday sites on the Internet and I can fully understand why a large company like TA would be interested in it.

But the site is only as good as it's members and that's all of you reading this. Thank you for all your contributions to HW and I guess for the moment it will carry on being the best UK Hotel review site.

Although I still have my mod status, I have no idea about the future of HW. Perhaps someone from TA would like to join this thread and let us know the plans for HW. Like is HW going to be merged with TA?...Are the reviews going to be same? Do us mods still have a job?!!!!

Some shocking news for sure, and quite clearly out of the blue. I'd also be interested to see what the future holds for not only admin and mods, but for everyone who contributes to make this website what it has and what hopefully it will continue to be.

does it mean more censoring our swearing and Police/Government bashing?
I hope it doesn't start advertisements and become non independant.
Mind you saying that I am a tripadvisor Member which is alright but it is not as friendly or close knit as such.

I'm stunned. I've always found HW to be honest and unbiased, albeit a good laugh at times. The sooner we find out what's happening, the better.
I'd like to thank everyone for their input, and hope that the HW experience will remain as it's always been, irreverent, amusing and a BS free zone.

Iain, Jan, Bex and everyone connected
May the Force be with you.

Postby HW tenpin on Thu Feb 07, 2008 12:54 pm

This is really sad news, I have enjoyed HW for its honesty particularly in the cruise forum, and while not agreeing with some of the posts and reviews I felt they were written with passion and truth.

All the other cruise sites seem to me to be dominated by people who will not have anything bad said about their particular favourite cruise line, and appear to abuse other members who don't feel that way. Whereas on HW everybody can air their view without be slagged off, which I have found refreshing.

The family' feel of HW has been inspirational & I can reiterate what has been said about the Chiefs, Mods but most of all members who have made this site great, I thank each and every one of you for making the past few years enjoyable.

How sad, a big thank you to all the HW staff.

I do hope it does'nt change too much, like Tenpin said HW has always had a 'family' feel to it.

And a thank you to the HW staff who in the past when we could pm people have pm'd me with advice.

Thanks again

:(
