| Hi
Can anyone tell me the best place to buy your euros from... is it the airport or can anyone recommend somewhere else. I am confused as to the best way to buy Euros really... because all the offers are different ie : no commission? no interest? so can someone please advise me on how best to purchase my holiday money.
I going to Cyprus and understand I need euros now and not cyprus pounds.
Cheers

| No dont ever buy your money or checks at the airport they are such a rip off as they know this is most peoples last port of call before the actual country they are to visit.
If you wish to buy in the uk most places do Euro cash or Euro cheques at 0% Commission ie Post office, travel agents , boots , M&S , TESCO etc
If you are going to buy travelers cheques you do have to pay around 2% to cash them in wherever but you are paying for the protection that you get if someone steals them, currency cannot be replaced if stolen (well not from the supplier, but only from making a claim on your travel ins).
We normally take a tiny amount in Euro cash and some travellers cheques then a card to withdraw cash from the machines , when we visit Greece, Im sure Cyprus will have them in lots of places also.
You can check out the latest rates by visiting the individual suppliers web site ie travel shops and supermarket web sites etc. I dont think the pound is doing to well at the moment against the euro.

| Hi Chrissey,
I purchased a small amount of Euros last week from the Post Office, I paid £150 sterling and received 180 Euros, the exchange rate is not good and going down fast. My advice would be to exchange just a small amount to get by for the first day or two them exchange in Cyprus, the exchange rate is always better. Don't what ever you do exchange at the airport.

| current exchange rate in Cyprus is £1.00 to 1.25 Euro as opposed to an average of 1.20 Euro here so as mal says take a little with you to get by for a day/night and then exchange over there

| Personally, I find that you get a better rate abroad than at home. We take Sterling with us and change it over there.
Just don't go to one of theose german type booths, they advertise No Commission, but they will rip you off.

| At the minute in benidorm its currently at 1.235 ..the best we had one day was 1.245 and the worst was 1.220.
Luckily we got the majority changed on the day it was 1.245 but it was neither here nor there.

| We always go to M&S for Euros and TC's as they give a good rate. Just take approx £100 worth in Euros and change the rest when you're there. Cheques or cash, it's up to you, but for security I would take TC's and a bank debit card as backup.
Just carry around what you need, leave the rest in the safe.
