Looks like Gordon has taken onboard what the rest of the country has been saying for months!!

He's been talking the Saudi's about increasing oil production and therefore he is saying the price will be reduced at the pumps.

YEH RIGHT!!!!!

And to make it quite clear, I manage two fuel stations and we're not making anymore money because of the increased price. Quite the opposite actually as our petrol sales are down slightly and so people are not spending so much money in our shops.

Wake up Gordon and get in the real world

.............rant over

Idle curiosity but what you replace the Labour government with? We have had 10 years of economic stability, we have just hit a rough patch the same as the rest of the world, it is not solely a UK problem. I remember the recessions under the last Conservative government, which where due to their mismanagement of the economy, I can remember 3 million unemployed and interests rates of 18.5%.

I think we would all like tax cuts, but people need to decide whether we want public services or tax cuts, as frankly I don't believe you can have both. Personally I would rather see more direct taxation as I believe that tax should be paid by those who can afford and taxes such as VAT do not discriminate between those that can afford tax and those that can't.

The taxes we pay aren't all getting spent on proper public services. They are giving benefits to people who are sending it out of the contry, and spending money on offenders, not building more jails etc just giving them a bit of luxury. Some of our hospitals are in a disgusting state. I would gladly pay more tax if our hospital was in a good condition for it.

My husband was diagnosed with a serious heart condition last year and within 12 weeks he was in a specialist cardio unit having major heart surgery, the surgeon told us that the surgery cost 250,000 that did not include the weeks in intensive care and then weeks in an ordinary hospital, I think there are few places in the world that you would receive that level of treatment for free.

In Canada where my family live they are waiting over 12 months for the surgery that my DH had, and many people are dying before they have the surgery, I for one am grateful to our National Health Service.

I work for the government for my sins, and specialise in social policy, and I manage a programme to tackle economic and social deprivation, and I see little evidence of people receiving benefits that allows them to live in luxury, imo.

No i'm not belittling the NHS in general.

Our local hospital and its major cuts in services is what I am talking about.

Its very dirty and poor, and many people have to wait months - having procedures cancelled time and time again.

It is a postcode lottery and you are lucky to be able to get a good service where you are.

not quite sure what planet tittlemouse has been LIVING on with 10 years of stability ! i class it as 10 years of constant lies with the big one at the last election when Blair stood as PM knowing damn well he would not see the term out ,we should have had another election then not give job to his bum chum.
I also remember the Thatcher government of the 80,s and i had far more spendable income in my pocket then than i do now and my kids were infants then i also remember the last time the country was in this type of mess in 1979 the winter of discontent, and who was in power LABOUR !!!

Yes but what about the 90's recession I remember interest rates being 15% under the tories and us being thrown out of our house when i was a child all because my dad was owed lots of money for a job he did for another big company that went bust because of the interest rates etc.
We was well off until that moment then one company ruined ours.
Thatcher had some good points like anti unions etc , we wouldnt be having all the strikes we have now, everyone entitled to buy they homes etc but then she also did bad things like taking kids milk away and forgetting to rebuild council houses etc to replace the ones they sold.
The problem with this government is that europe dictates to much, we are over run with immigrants giving them this and that , even child benefit for kids not living in the uk? I wish we would stop paying all this money to europe , i think we pay more than the others to be in it too.
We are paying for poor french farmers etc what about ours?
I really dont get this oil thing , on a programme the other night they were saying we have plenty of oil in the north sea so why are buying from saudi and russia?

All this talk about Maggie Thatcher and the Tories but does anyone remember the 60s and 70s when labour were in power? 3 day weeks, power cuts of 3 hours a time, restrictions on the amount of money you could take abroad IF you were lucky enough to be able to afford a foreign holiday. Britain was the laughing stock of the world under labour governments then. Labour is supposed to be for the working man but this shower is anything but. They all live in cuckoo land and until we get a decent party in power that is for Britain and not the EU, things won't get any better.
