Hi guys- last post i promise - just want to make sure everything goes brilliantly!

i have read lots of threads about people bringing travellers cheques to Goa - im sure last time i went i just had my barclay debit card - i checked with the bank and it should only cost me £25 to withdraw £700.

does anybody else just use their debit card and do you know if any ATMs? i will be staying in Calangute.

i will also be elsewhere in India for a week or so and again - if anybody knows of a place called Jabalpur could you let me know if you have used a cash card there before?

Thanks a lot.
:-)

please please please tell you barclays when and where you are staying on holiday as my partner took his barclaycard to goa and half way through the holiday barclays decided to stop all payments which meant we were unable to draw any money from that account, when we got home we phoned barclays and they stopped the use of the card because they thought someone had stolen it flown al the way to indai and made purchses both in india and the uk when all the time it was us hehe.this year we'll be telling the bank haha

Always let your card issuer know you're going away, and that you'll be using the card abroad.

They all have systems now that look for "unusual" transactions, and sudden transactions from a different country often trigger these.

I've always made a point of calling my card issuers before I travel, and letting them know where I'm going and what sort of transactions I'll be putting on my card.

Slightly off topic but why don't you get a Nationwide Flwxi Account?

Free cash withdrawals anywhere in the world along with a good exchange rate!
